The painter Francisco de Goya began his career in the Luzán and Bayeu workshops on his rise to the court of Madrid.
Goya comes into contact with the Dukes of Osuna and through them he meets the Duchess of Alba. His brother-in-law Ramón dies, and Francisco is finished. The world is changing.
Goya travels to Andalusia to the palace of the Duchess of Alba to paint. There she maintains a relationship with him when her husband dies. Back in Madrid, his work with engravings brings him problems.
Goya is a witness at the beginning of the 19th century to the palace intrigues of Spain and the entry of Napoleon's invaders and the uprising of the people of Madrid starting the war.
During the six years of war against the French invaders of Spain, Goya traveled through Zaragoza and Madrid observing the ravages of war and death everywhere.
In the last years of his life, Goya is increasingly disillusioned with the evolution of politics and man. He takes refuge in his increasingly personal painting by creating his "Black Paintings".
